Ebonyi State University of ICT, Science and Technology is a public state-owned university that is situated in Oferekpe, Agbaja Local Government of Ebonyi State.
The plan and the process to establish the university was something that began in 2021 when the State House of Assembly of Ebonyi passed the bill that established the university during the tenure of the former Ebonyi State Governor Engineer David Nweze Umahi.
When the law that established the university was passed, the university did not commence immediately in 2021, and this stagnation made the then former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, who is now the current governor of Ebonyi, set up six (6), which was headed by Professor Amari Omaka (SAN).
The Six (6) members of the committee that was set up in 2023 were successful in their implementation, and in 2024 the university started functioning, and various academicians were appointed to lead the university, including the first vice-chancellor of the university, Engineer Professor Ernest Ituma Egba, and others.
In 2025 a team from the National Universities Commission (NUC) visited the institution, and the institution was granted approval to commence as a university, marking the establishment date. Even though the institution was established by law in 2021, the official date of establishment is when the institution was granted approval by the NUC.

Admission Requirement
• Candidates must choose Ebonyi State University of ICT Oferekpe (UICTO) as their first choice in JAMB.
• Candidates must have at least five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, in WAEC, NECO, or equivalent examinations in not more than two sittings.
• Candidates must have obtained a minimum JAMB score of 150 and above in the 2026 UTME.
• Candidates who did not choose the university as their first choice but scored 150 and above in JAMB can change their institution on the JAMB Portal (JAMB CAPS) to make the university their first choice before applying.
