Federal Polytechnic Ugep is a public, federally owned polytechnic that is situated in Ugep, Yakkur, local government of Cross River State. Federal Polytechnic Ugep is part of the eight (8) newly established polytechnics by the Federal Government of Nigeria under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Federal Polytechnic Ugep was established in 2021 alongside the other eight (8) at that time with ₦2 billion approved for the institution to take off. Prior to the establishment of the Polytechnic, the Obol lopon of Ugep led a delegation team to the then President Muhammadu Buhari, demanding and requesting for the university to be established in the region, but they got the Polytechnic.
The institution took off campus, which was not provided by the state government of Cross River, so the polytechnic has to use the premises of Ugep Community Secondary School, which has been abandoned for over 20 years. The renovation of the building and the premises took 1 year, and that is why academic activities for the year commenced in 2022 instead of 2021.
Federal Polytechnic Ugep was established with the mission of training middle cadre manpower that will facilitate the industrial development in Cross River State and the country at large by putting together a team of enlightened and committed staff that will motivate students to think outside the box.

• Must possess a National Diploma (ND) in a related course from an accredited polytechnic.
• Must have at least a lower credit (CGPA 2.50) in the ND result.
• Must complete at least 1 year of Industrial Training (IT) after ND.
• Candidates with only a pass may need 2 years of industrial training.
